How can I reset check engine light

It keeps coming up on my Taos 2022 SEL and of course it happens right when I'm nowhere near a scanner, is there a way to reset the system or reboot the modules just to see if it was a fluke? I've heard disconnecting the battery for a bit can sometimes clear stored codes, but wasn't sure if that applies with the newer ECUs in these

Would love to hear ideas please, just trying to avoid a dealer visit if it turns out to be something minor

On newer VWs like your Taos, disconnecting the battery often isn't enough to clear all codes or fully reset modules.
What's even more frustrating is that sometimes it can even introduce new issues!
Driving cycles can sometimes clear a soft code if the underlying issue isn't present but a true reset usually requires a proper scan tool.
If it's a persistent problem, I think a dealer visit might be the most reliable path to diagnose it correctly.

Disconnecting the battery is still the easiest "reboot" trick, even on modern cars. Dealers love scaring people into thinking ECUs are too advanced for that now, it's just marketing. Half the time, their fancy resets are literally doing the same thing you could do at home

And if I may add, aside from what the other suggestions here, double-check your gas cap, it's a common cause and easy fix. If the light comes back, a cheap OBD2 reader might save you a trip to the dealer.
